Bloodline by Sidney Sheldon Book Review

Book Description

Roffe and Sons is a multinational pharmaceutical giant headed by Sam Roffe, one of the world’s richest men. After his sudden death, Sam’s young daughter Elizabeth inherits his multi-billion-dollar business and subsequently becomes the target of her father’s father killer. Bloodline follows the story of Elizabeth Roffe, a woman trying to find a place in the man’s world.

Bloodline Book Review

Bloodline is like most other Sidney Sheldon novels - amazing! Even though most of his novels follow a signature pattern, its his implementation of the pattern in the framework of each story that portrays Sheldon’s genius storytelling capabilities.

Similar to most of his other novels, Sheldon builds the plot of Bloodline centering a woman and her struggle in a world dominated by men. With multiple adjacent story lines and subplots, the book succeeds in delivering an in-depth understanding of every character, gradually unfolding their characteristics in layers. It thus forges an emotional connection between the reader and the characters; you love them, hate them, feel pity, sad, and disgust.

The only thing that I liked less about about the book is the ending. It is abrupt and uncharacteristically incomplete. (I had to check it elsewhere to make sure that I had all the pages in my book, especially since it is a pre-loved copy.) But I think the incompleteness of the book provides an openness to the story, that has adequate scope for further continuation (like a sequel), or can be simply taken forward as per the reader’s imagination.

Pros

This is Sidney Sheldon. There’s romance, lot of dramatic scenes, mystery, thrill, suspense, adventure, crime…almost everything!

Cons

The ending could have been better.

Who Should Read It?

Anyone who loves mystery, crime, thrill, ambition and power-driven characters, and a woman at the center of the story will hopefully enjoy the book. (And needless to say, any Sidney Sheldon fan!!)

Until next time.

XOXO

P.S.  I am a HUGE Sidney Sheldon fan!
